Staff Picks: What’s on your fall Playlist?

Aidan R: “We fell in love in October” by girl in red

Surely, you get it.

Although it is targeted to a specific audience, this song encapsulates the feeling of early-mid fall so perfectly. Not to mention, it almost also has a nostalgic factor to it, which is the key to finding an impactful song for a season like this.

Girl in red is the queen of fall anthems. Prove me wrong.

Josh B: “Them Bones” by Alice in Chains

“Them Bones” screams “grunge fall,” like it’s just something where you’re driving on a crisp fall night, not quite all the way dark yet. You see the red and orange leaves and you breathe in the air. I mean it’s like a flannel as a song. It literally released a week after fall started in 1992. It is fall.

Will G: “Revival” by Zach Bryan

“Revival” is a song played at almost every bonfire and fall hangout. It is one of the easiest songs to sing with others. Fall nights are an important part of high school culture in the U.S., and Zach Bryan’s voice is as smooth as fall.

Alexis R: “Friday I’m In Love” by The Cure

This song gives the vibe of falling in love with someone in autumn. It feels like a love song you’d listen to while walking through a park during the fall season. The Cure is honestly just so good, and I fear a lot of the songs they have fit the theme as well, but this one truly does take the cake. I would highly recommend this song to anyone looking for an addition to their fall love songs playlist!

Annabella S: “Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want – 2005 Remastered” by Deftones

This song was originally written and released by The Smiths, but this remaster by Deftones has my heart. A study shows that fall is seen as a time for a fresh start, and often sparks motivation in people (Joni Sweet). In relation, this song is about someone asking, begging, for a stroke of luck after a life of hard times; someone who’s ready for something new. I can relate heavily.

Ayden B: “Something in the Orange” by Zach Bryan

This song makes me think of orange leaves on the trees. It makes me think of pumpkin carving and going to orchards. The song makes you feel like you are by a fire roasting marshmallows and someone is playing guitar, conjuring up thoughts of warm blankets and flannels.

Addy D: “There She Goes” – The La’s

I picked this song because it perfectly embodies the fall vibe. With a combination of the lyrics and the addictive tune it immediately incites fall-ness into my day.

Alex R: “Thriller” by Micheal Jackson

Thriller is a good classic with a halloween theme to it. It’s always something I hear throughout the fall season. It’s not exactly a dark feel but encapsulates the colder, cloudier feel of fall. And it is overall a very catchy song that will definitely stick with you.

Cole J: “it boy” by bbno$

“it boy” is a song you could vibe to any time of the year. This single quickly became a hit, and for good reason. It’s a good beat that almost anybody could vibe with, and some pretty infectious lyrics. Anytime it comes on it brings out the side of me that can’t help but do a little dance while driving.

Grace H: “Champagne Problems” by Taylor Swift

I picked Champagne Problems because it reminds me of fall. Every year there are things I want to do but I have to do them while in a relationship. In the song, Taylor talks about the negative parts about the relationship. Also to me fall is very calm and sad, not super happy. So a sad song goes with fall to me.

Sophia T: “death bed (coffee for your head)” by Powfu

It’s a cute song that gives off soft vibes and always cheers me up. His song is a bit older (2020 era), but it still rocks. I think it’s perfect for fall because it’s calming and not crazy, it’s simple and sweet. It just gives off good vibes, and everyone loves a good vibe, right?

Lanie K: “Fade Into You” by Mazzy Star

This song portrays the perfect fall feeling, giving off the fall vibe of watching spooky movies with friends or family. While having a nice cold cup of apple cider or even a hot  pumpkin spice latte with a warm cozy blanket.

Aubri M: “Where’d All The Time Go” by Dr. Dog

This song just gives the calm energy that Fall gives. It makes me feel like I’m driving on a cloudy day, trees all around me and all the red, orange, and yellow leaves falling. I like to listen to this song with all my windows down, sunroof open, and my heated seat on. with my hand out of the window, feeling the cool wind on me and listening to the music that’s almost too loud.

Alayna H: “No. 1 Party Anthem” by Arctic Monkeys

I’ve been listening to this song a lot recently and I love the slow vibes. It comes across as more of a mellow love song and I think it fits a calm fall vibe.

Mazzi R: “Sweater Weather” by The Neighborhood

It’s just another love song I guess and fall is also a good time for love for people cuz they can be closer together.

Katie A: “Shake the Frost” by Tyler Childers

This song is a pretty song no matter the season, but it truly comes to life in fall. It’s slow melodic patter really gives the illusion of the perfect, aesthetic fall day. It reminds me of an apple orchard, with a crisp air, while wearing comfy flannels. The song has great lyrics that are comforting on a chilly fall day. Tyler Childers really knows how to make a song unique, and provide a comfort on a fall day.
